Durante una entrevista, el quarterback de Saints de Nueva Orleans declar\u00f3 que ”nunca estar\u00e1 de acuerdo con nadie que no respete la bandera de Estados Unidos”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despu\u00e9s de que las\u00a0redes sociales<\/strong>\u00a0ardieran por sus declaraciones, el quarterback de Saints de Nueva Orleans,\u00a0Drew Brees<\/strong>, public\u00f3 un mensaje en el que ofreci\u00f3 una disculpa a las personas a las que lastim\u00f3 con sus palabras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En una carta publicada en\u00a0Instagram<\/strong>, que acompa\u00f1\u00f3 con un brazo negro y otro blanco entrelazados, Brees escribi\u00f3:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Me gustar\u00eda disculparme con mis amigos, compa\u00f1eros de equipo, la ciudad de Nueva Orleans, la comunidad negra, la comunidad de la NFL y cualquier persona a la que lastim\u00e9 con mis comentarios ayer.<\/strong> Al hablar con algunos de ustedes, me rompe el coraz\u00f3n saber el dolor que he causado”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“En un intento por hablar sobre el respeto, la unidad y la solidaridad centrados en la bandera estadounidense y el himno nacional,\u00a0hice comentarios insensibles y perd\u00ed por completo la marca en los problemas que enfrentamos en este momento como pa\u00eds.<\/strong>\u00a0Carec\u00edan de conciencia y de cualquier tipo de compasi\u00f3n o empat\u00eda. En cambio, esas palabras se han vuelto divisivas e hirientes y han enga\u00f1ado a la gente a creer que de alguna manera soy un enemigo. Esto no podr\u00eda estar m\u00e1s lejos de la verdad, y no es un reflejo exacto de mi coraz\u00f3n o mi car\u00e1cter. Aqu\u00ed es donde estoy parado”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Apoyo a la comunidad negra en la lucha contra la injusticia racial sist\u00e9mica y la brutalidad policial y apoyo a la creaci\u00f3n de un cambio de pol\u00edtica real que haga la diferencia”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Condeno los a\u00f1os de opresi\u00f3n que han tenido lugar en todas nuestras comunidades negras y que todav\u00eda existen hoy”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Reconozco que nosotros, como estadounidenses, incluido yo mismo, no hemos hecho lo suficiente para luchar por esa igualdad o para comprender realmente las luchas y la dif\u00edcil situaci\u00f3n de la comunidad negra”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Reconozco que soy parte de la soluci\u00f3n y que puedo ser un l\u00edder para la comunidad negra en este movimiento”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nunca sabr\u00e9 lo que es ser un hombre negro o criar ni\u00f1os negros en\u00a0Estados Unidos<\/strong>, pero trabajar\u00e9 todos los d\u00edas para ponerme en esos zapatos y luchar por lo que es correcto”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SIEMPRE he sido un aliado, nunca un enemigo.\u00a0Estoy enfermo por la forma en que se percibieron mis comentarios ayer, pero asumo toda la responsabilidad. Reconozco que deber\u00eda hablar menos y escuchar m\u00e1s … y cuando la comunidad negra habla de su dolor, todos debemos escuchar.<\/strong>\u00a0Por eso, lo siento mucho y le pido perd\u00f3n”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to apologize to my friends, teammates, the City of New Orleans, the black community, NFL community and anyone I hurt with my comments yesterday. In speaking with some of you, it breaks my heart to know the pain I have caused. In an attempt to talk about respect, unity, and solidarity centered around the American flag and the national anthem, I made comments that were insensitive and completely missed the mark on the issues we are facing right now as a country. They lacked awareness and any type of compassion or empathy. Instead, those words have become divisive and hurtful and have misled people into believing that somehow I am an enemy. This could not be further from the truth, and is not an accurate reflection of my heart or my character. This is where I stand: I stand with the black community in the fight against systemic racial injustice and police brutality and support the creation of real policy change that will make a difference. I condemn the years of oppression that have taken place throughout our black communities and still exists today. I acknowledge that we as Americans, including myself, have not done enough to fight for that equality or to truly understand the struggles and plight of the black community. I recognize that I am part of the solution and can be a leader for the black community in this movement. I will never know what it\u2019s like to be a black man or raise black children in America but I will work every day to put myself in those shoes and fight for what is right. I have ALWAYS been an ally, never an enemy. I am sick about the way my comments were perceived yesterday, but I take full responsibility and accountability. I recognize that I should do less talking and more listening…and when the black community is talking about their pain, we all need to listen. For that, I am very sorry and I ask your forgiveness.<\/a><\/p>
